In November we launched an article with some tricks for parents to keep their homes organized and without the toys of their children scattered throughout the house. Today we write for you, with or without children at home, but with the same challenge: keep the house organized.

Consider yourself neat and tidy, but can’t keep the couch cushions in the right place? Do you always have used clothes on your bedroom chair? Are the shoes never in the shoe rack? Is there always dirty dishes in the sink or at the living room table? Every day you say “tomorrow it will change!” And the next day you leave the house with the bed undone again? Then this text is for you.

We live our days on autopilot. We got up later than we had planned the night before, dragged ourselves into the shower, ran off home on an empty stomach, spent the day at work, and when we got home, the laundry basket is fuller and fuller. You can get another plate in the dishwasher. Day after day, things are accumulating and we are going to delay a little more, because after all, “it’s not that important!”. But in reality, it is. Keeping the house organized is important so we never forget that need. An organized environment helps us to keep our minds organized as well. Organized, clean and healthy.

I suppose you have tried everything, but over time that plan has failed. Truth? I will leave you some tips that I consider to be essential for you to be able to keep your home organized and the beautiful and cozy space you dream of having.

Bedroom

Have specific compartments and drawers for each of the things you have in this room. Once you use them, put them back in the right place. Do this systematically, even if your “head” tells you not to, or tries to fool you with the “I’ll fix it.” After doing so do countless times, no breaks, this habit will become unconscious and as such, will not be forgotten. Like brushing teeth, riding a bicycle, eating with cutlery … Insist and persist and become the most organized person you know.

Do not create extensions of your wardrobes. Forget the chairs, the bedroom door … you know what I mean, don’t you? If you are not going to use that sweater, store it in the wardrobe, in the dresser or place to wash.

Organize the wardrobe for half a year and donate clothes that have not been worn for more than 6 or 12 months. Go do these cleanings periodically and believe me, you will feel much better, not only because you will be able to keep your house cleaner and more organized, but for contributing an incredible act of charity.

Living room

“Less is more.” A room with the least number of decorating elements is a truly easier room to keep organized and also cleaner.

Separate magazines and newspapers and discard those you no longer need. Do not accumulate them. If you have a bookshelf, organize them in a beautiful way. Some stand up, others lie down and try to work out the color differences, heights, and textures, so you do not get confused visually.

You know that drawer that’s full of things you do not actually use? Yeah, it’s time to clean up. And of course, avoid refilling it again.

Kitchen

Use vertical organizers. In addition to giving a more modern feel to the environment, these organizers help keep your kitchen organized.

Use boxes and jars to store food and ingredients. Forget the plastic bags and cardboard boxes and buy all the bottles you need at one time, keeping the same color and pattern.

Bathroom

Store all creams in your closets or in baskets. Do not accumulate things on the main bench. Try to keep the creams always stored on your specific shelf and easily accessible. A good tip is to organize them by body zone.

If you wear makeup, do not store it in the bathroom as it may compromise the quality of the products, due to the characteristic humidity of these areas. Cosmetic products should be stored in the room or other dry place.

They seem like too simple tips, but in reality, they are very challenging, especially to maintain since they require a lot of practice and persistence. Remember the essential, everything in its proper place, even in those moments when you feel like leaving for tomorrow. You will see that you can always keep your home organized.
