Now that you have the pallets with you, you should evaluate the ground where the deck will sit. It should be totally flat. Use pallets of equal size and align them side-by-side.

Once aligned, it is important to see if they are same level. The second step is to cut the pallet boards one by one. The ideal is to use an electric saw. After sawing, separate the boards by colors, shades, details and width. After that, start nailing or screwing the boards in the base of the pallets. Use rust-resistant nails or bolts. Make sure that at least the first row is perfectly aligned. Then you can mix boards, creating a rug that suit your personal taste. Finishing is essential.

After cutting the excess boards, sand the wood thoroughly and remove any existing splinters. For extra protection, after cleaning the wood, pass a mixture of flaxseed oil with turpentine (4 per 1). It will get a delicate touch and care. If you like, you can also color your deck, brightening or darkening, using dyes in the oil mixture.

Take a weekend and put your hands to work. It will look perfect and you will not have to spend a lot of money.
